travel to Angkor Wat from Malaysia without flying ..part XX

{Lone Ranger Finding His Loving Wife}

......continued from part XIX

(September 19, 2015)
What is Angkor Wat ? Where is it ? Most of my friends seem don't know about it, even myself also didn't know much about it before I decided to visit there. After I visited there, is that means I had familiar with it ? Let see 。。。

Various kings of the Khmer empire from the year 802 to 1431 built their capitals, temples and castles around an area a few kilometers north up from Siem Reap. The area stretching over 400 sqkm (which is quite similar size with Kepong town, Malaysia) leaves abandoned and looting along wars and changes of empire and other factors during that hundreds years.
Today this area was named Angkor Archaeological Park, which contains magnificent remains of buildings and infrastructures, including the largest pre-industrial city in the world at once. The most famous buildings are the Angkor Wat and the Bayon Temple with its countless breathtaking and stunning sculptural decorations.

I don't know much about this historical area, I learnt it mostly online. So, let photos do the talking here 。。。

Many of the sculptures and rocks remain collapse after year by year wars, changes of empire & looting. There are only a few NGOs taking parts in restructuring and re-building the Angkor park in present day, where supports are very essential to maintain these breathtaking historical park.
Advice to all tourists : DO NOT SCRATCH or SMEAR on any of these sculptures !

{Lone Ranger Finding His Loving Wife}

......continued from part XVIII

Previously in part XVIII 。。。
"Back to the story that I was still waiting my lovely wife to come out from the door after the flight status shown that the plane had [ARRIVED]. 5 minutes, 10 minutes, 20 minutes 。。。passed, but she haven't come out !

My lovely wife landed in Siem Reap safely"

(September 18, 2015)
After some refreshment in the hotel, we decided to walk out to the Pub Street for dinner in the evening.
The walking distance from the Landing Point Villa to the Pub Street is about 1.5km. It was a quiet straight street towards a bridge crossing the town area of Siem Reap. There were only two or three sundry shops and one or two restaurants besides this street. However, we able to see more shops after passing the T-junction but still before the bridge. Then, it was getting bright and brighter with colourful lights alongside the river.

After we crossed the bridge, walked about 300 meters and would reached the Pub Street entrance, where The Soup Dragon is at the T-junction. So it's about 20 minutes walking distance from the hotel to reach the Pub Street, more far than the Bayon Boutique Hotel which I highly recommend.

a busy nightlife @ the Pub Street

We able to find a table at the upstairs level of The Soup Dragon, where I presumed as a perfect place to capture the pretty of this vibrant nightlife street.

That was a home-made drink by The Soup Dragon. Tamarin Juice - A mixture of Asam (sour fruit) with peanuts. My wife like it very much.

After dinner, walk around the Pub Street area, and you'll find lots of hawker selling Cambodian styles of clothes and souvenirs. The Cambodian products sold here mostly in fine quality and worthy price.

By the time we decided to back to sleep, it was already 10pm plus, so we haggled with a tut-tut driver waiting in front of a convenient store, the fee drving us back to hotel, USD2.5, a bit pricey but due to the street walking back would be too quiet and dark, so had to take it.

Then it was another session of self-meditation or to be precised, it was actually a drink-atation after I comfort my wife to sleep.
